Sailing Update

With the work about to get started on the West Bank, the water has now dropped to a level that we cannot launch and recover the boats and so have had to make the decision to postpone for further notice. 

My thanks to the team of folks that spent a hot Sunday morning, burning more calories than Ben Stokes, moving boats, pontoons, and marks. If you weren’t able to move your boat, you may wish to put a pint behind the bar for those that did it for you. 

We will continue to monitor the situation over the next weeks and if there is a chance of sailing we will go for it. The racing programme will be modified accordingly to take account of the missing races. 

The work is due to start tomorrow, Tuesday, so today is a great day to come and walk around. Even with limited water there is still some fascinating things to see. 

Once the work has started the path between the lower boat park and the boat house will be out of bounds during the day. In the evenings the path between the clubhouse and the boathouse will remain closed, but everything else will be open. 

When the work is happening, access to the Mere will be via the metal gates at the end of the car park. Please be aware of security and also be mindful that work will be taking place. 

BBQ Flavour Beery Theory

In the absence of sailing we will still look to put on some entertainment in the form of Sunday afternoon Beery Theory and if the weather is good we’ll fire up the BBQ as well. If there are any particular topics that you would want to discuss then let me know. 

We will be looking to start the first session in 2 weeks time.

Italian Night – an evening of Aperol and Style

Next Saturday is our stylish Italian Night. It is a free event and we’ll be firing up some pizzas to nibble on and maybe a few other classic Italian snacks. 

Come along from 5pm dressed as if you come from a fashion parade in Naples.
